Books To Be Read |

Now I mostly read non-fiction and generally it has something to do with history. I dont know why I find certain times and people in history more interesting than others such as that of the Minoan Civilization, the Roman Empire or something as recent as the Vietnam War. Id like to steal a line from Oprah at this point and say: what I do know for sure is that I love to read and discover other worlds and people I would otherwise have no access to. I most definitely think of myself as a bookaholic. Sometimes the euphoria of walking into a bookstore is more than I can handle. I will say that there are times when I am more than a little fanatical when it comes to my books. I do not borrow books to anyone anymore, even my closest friends or family members. Most of you already know the answer to why I dont borrow, but in case it has never happened to you let me explain: if the book is never returned then I have to buy another copy and if its a reprint and has a different cover than the one I had in the first place I can find myself feeling dejected for days, weeks or even years. I dont know about you, but I can be a very temperamental reader, which is why I keep a good selection of books to be read on hand at all times. These are normally the books Ive bought for no specific reason other than they looked good and I was in a bookstore and had to buy something. It goes without saying that the books we acquire are as different as we are. Some only read specific authors, others stick to a certain genre or topic and there are those who can read just about anything. One of the marvelous things about all of these books to be read is that there is no right or wrong when it comes to books. |
